A Letter to Pediatricians

medicine pediatrician Dec 21, 2025

This has been a trying year for pediatricians and I honestly wish I had more power to step in and change things on a bigger scale. As a fellow pediatrician, I wish I could adequately compensate you for the countless hours, worries, and mental exercises you’ve done to work around new obstacles and worsening care and support for our children, but I cannot. All I can really say is thank you. So, if you haven’t heard it lately, thank you so much!

Thank you for choosing and committing to a field that far too often does not appreciate and does not adequately compensate you for the millions of important facts and details you have learned to provide great care.

Thank you for being willing to have hard conversations with people who far too often trust Tik-tok influencers more than they trust science.

Thank you for being willing to share and support others in the field who refuse to cave and give in to popularity, rather than the truth.

Thank you for being dedicated to spreading truth and not fear about classic medications, illnesses, and diseases that we both understand well, and those that we do not yet.

Thank you for the countless hours you have spent reviewing diseases, symptoms, and illnesses we had almost removed from the population entirely.

Thank you for your commitment to continue serving even as funding, support, and insurance coverage are repeatedly removed and delayed.

Thank you for your endless energy to love, care for, and guide those who often don’t have anyone else to fight for them.

Thank you for your willingness to give, financially support, and create opportunities for meals, medicine, and help in the midst of scarcity and fear.

Mostly, thank you for choosing to stay in a difficult place and do what only you can do.

As alone as you may at times feel, know that you are seen, appreciated, greatly loved, and covered often in my prayers.

With Love,

Dr Ashley
